Swedish chip and nanotechnology expert Henry Homayoun Radamson has died in Shanghai at the age of 63.
Radamson moved to China in 2016 and was serving as chief scientist at the Guangdong Greater Bay Area Institute of Integrated Circuit and System. The institute said he died from a “sudden illness” on 12 August.
He was known for his research into nanotechnology and its use in medical diagnostics, as well as his work on short-wave infrared chips.
Radamson was also recognised for his contribution to China’s scientific development. In 2023, he received the Chinese Government Friendship Award, which honours foreigners who have made significant contributions to China.
The European Materials Research Society, where Radamson served on the executive committee, described him as a highly respected scientist and researcher whose work contributed to materials science and semiconductor technology.
Radamson’s career included extensive work in Sweden before he moved to China, making him a notable link between Swedish and Chinese research communities.
