Danish and Indonesian partners are exploring ways to make chocolate production more energy efficient and less dependent on fossil fuels.
The Royal Danish Embassy in Indonesia, the Danish Energy Agency and Danish consultancy Viegand Maagøe are working with PT Ceres Meses Indonesia, a major food and chocolate producer based in Bandung.
The cooperation is part of the Indonesia-Denmark Energy Partnership Programme (INDODEPP).
PT Ceres was one of 16 companies that received an energy audit during the first phase of the programme. The audit looked at possible energy savings, reductions in CO₂ emissions and the investment needed to make improvements.
The cooperation has now entered a new phase. In August, the Danish team visited PT Ceres to begin a study into the possibility of using more electricity in the company’s production.
During the visit, the team looked at the company’s machinery and production processes and discussed the plans for the study.
The project is part of Denmark’s wider cooperation with Indonesia on energy efficiency and the transition towards greener industry.
