A new group, the Taiwanese Association Denmark (TAD), was inaugurated in Denmark on 1 March, according to Taiwan’s Central News Agency (CNA).

TAD president Huang Yi-min said the association will serve Taiwanese in Denmark and promote Taiwan’s cultural diversity. The launch was held alongside Taiwan’s 228 Peace Memorial Day commemorations.

Taiwan’s representative to Denmark, Robin Cheng, attended the event and said overseas Taiwanese play a role in supporting Taiwan’s international profile. He said his office plans to work with the community to expand Taiwan–Denmark cooperation.

Huang said the association was partly inspired by a 2023 incident in which Danish authorities marked some Taiwanese residents’ permits as “Chinese.” She said TAD also aims to support Mandarin-language programs for second-generation Taiwanese and raise awareness of Taiwan among Danes.
