Danish parliamentary delegation visits Taiwan for second year in a row

Kasper Roug (second from right), vice chairman of the Parliamentary Taiwan Friendship Group, arrives in Taiwan with Danish counterparts.

A Danish parliamentary delegation visited Taiwan last week for the second year in a row, Taiwan’s foreign ministry said. The trip focused on regional security and closer Taiwan–Denmark cooperation.

The four-member group was led by Kasper Roug, vice chairman of the Parliamentary Taiwan Friendship Group. Fellow parliament members Thomas Jensen, Alex Ahrendtsen and Morten Klessen were also part of the delegation.

During the five-day visit, the group met with Taiwan’s Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim. They also attended a banquet hosted by Deputy Foreign Minister François Wu.

The delegation met Deputy Legislative Speaker Johnny Chiang, Deputy Defense Minister Po Horng-huei and Energy Administration Deputy Director-General Chen Chung-hsien. Discussions covered Taiwan’s political and economic developments, the cross-Strait situation and wider regional security.

The program also included visits to Hsinchu Science Park, the Taiwan Space Agency and the Taiwan FactCheck Center. A Danish parliamentary group last visited Taiwan in November 2024, the first such trip since 2019.
