Swedish ambassador Staffan Herrström and Trade Commissioner Vivianne Gillman explained how the forestry industry became a major factor in Sweden’s development from a low income country to one of the richest and most innovative nations in the world.
Swedish forestry companies then showcased how they could support Lao PDR to make the same journey, in a much faster and also sustainable way.
The seminar followed by great bilaterals with H.E. Sonexay Siphandone, Deputy Prime Minister, and H.E. Souphan Keomixay, Minister of Planning and Investment, also discussing the next step in the Lao/Swedish collaboration: an upcoming Lao ministerial delegation to study Sweden’s sustainable forestry industry.
