According to the case of Thai ex-con arrested for raping Norwegian tourist, the convict named Raewat Harnsuwan or known in the local media as “Ai Moss” has been handed an eight year sentence for the rape of a 26-year-old Norwegian woman on Koh Phangan in Thailand’s south.
The incident happened during the weekend’s Half Moon Party on Sunday, May 12, 2019. A Norwegian tourist reported that she was raped by an Asian man who initially pretended to help her find her missing wallet that she has lost after returning from a half-full moon party at Koh Pha Ngan, Surat Thani.
Police immediately headed off to search for the suspect and eventually have arrested a motorcycle repairman, Raewat Harnsuwan, aged 33. The police reported that Raewat or “Mos” was a former prisoner who had been jailed for dealing drugs and was just released from the prison less than one month before he committed another crime.
On June 1, the Koh Samui court sentenced Raewat to 12 years adding four more under section 92 for a total of 16 years.
Raewat had his sentence cut in half and reduced to 8 years because he confessed what he had done.
