The Svalbard Global Seed Vault and the Nordic Genetic Resource Centre (NordGen) are visiting Thailand during the second week of November to collaborate on the establishment of a Thai National Plant Genetic Resource Center.

During their visit, NordGen will share insights on the safeguarding and sustainable use of plants, farm animals and forest genetic resources. NordGen will also pay a visit to Thailand’s gene banks.
To welcome to delegation, the Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok hosted a reception together with Thailand’s Department of Agriculture on Monday.
The Svalbard Global Seed Vault is a secure seed bank on Svalbard, Norway. It is an attempt to ensure against the loss of seeds in other genebanks during large-scale regional or global crises.
NordGen is a Nordic institute, that contributes to securing diversity of genetic resources linked to food and agriculture.
