Thailand–Sweden forum in Phrae focuses on sustainable forestry

Sweden’s Chargé d’Affaires Per Linnér and Phrae Governor Somchai Lertprasitthiphan met to discuss presevation of ressources

Sweden’s Chargé d’Affaires Per Linnér has met with Phrae Governor Somchai Lertprasitthiphan to discuss ways the two countries can work together to preserve natural resources.

This comes ahead of the 5th Thailand–Sweden Sustainable Development Forum, which opens in Phrae Province on 15 August 2025, highlighting cooperation on sustainable forestry and environmental responsibility.

As part of the forum, the Embassy of Sweden is presenting Woodlife Sweden, an exhibition at the Green House, Chetawan Arboretum, running until 14 October 2025. The exhibition showcases how Sweden, where nearly 70 percent of the land is covered by forest, integrates wood into sustainable design, culture, and daily life.

Likewise in Phrae, approximately 65% of land is covered by forest, and forestry is a major industry in the area.

The forum is part of ongoing Thai–Swedish collaboration to share best practices in sustainability and resource management.
