The two danish women were found unconscious in hostel after reported methanol poisoning

Danish women unconscious Laos

Two Danish women, aged 20 and 21, tragically died in Laos earlier this week. Staff members at their hostel found them unconscious after expressing concerns about their well-being when they did not appear for an extended period.

According to the Vientiane Times, the women arrived in Laos on November 7. They were in the city on November 12, but when hostel staff noticed their absence the next day, they chose to check on the guests. Their concern led to the alarming discovery of the women in their room.

The two girls reportedly drank a free shot from the Nana Backpacker Hostel before heading out in the night. The hostel manager has denied culpability, saying that the same drinks had been served to at least 100 other guests that night who reported no problems.

Authorities suspect that the Danish tourists consumed alcohol contaminated with methanol. This incident contributes to a troubling pattern, with reports confirming six victims of methanol poisoning in the region.

Both local and international authorities are investigating the women’s deaths to ensure tourist safety. They will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
