Traditional Danish Christmas coming to Thailand

A group of Danes in Thailand are planning to revive the spirit of the classic Christmas lunch once held at The Admirals in Bangkok – this time in the charming surroundings of Shinnabhura Historic Boutique Hotel in Phitsanulok, where the Danish couple Bent and Na Laasholdt are the resident managers.

The Christmas Lunch will take place on Saturday 6 December 2025 on the initiative of Karsten Bo Andersen and a few Danish friends who wanted to gather the community for a proper Danish Christmas celebration in central Thailand.

Shinnabhura Historic Boutique Hotel is managed by Bent and Na Laasholdt, who many Scandinavians in Bangkok will remember as the former owners of The Admirals Pub and Restaurant on Sukhumvit Soi 24. The couple now thrive in their new roles at this elegant property that recreates the atmosphere of a royal residence from Thailand’s Ayutthaya era – complete with authentic-style architecture, antique décor, and a fascinating in-house heritage museum.

The Christmas event will feature a traditional Danish X-mas lunch and warm fellowship in the festive setting of this unique hotel. Guests are encouraged to stay overnight and enjoy the location. You can even take a few days off and make it into a long weekend, as Thailand’s Constitution Day falls on Wednesday 10 December. Still, Phitsanulok is only a few hours’ drive from most central Thai cities, so same-day return is also possible for those with busy December schedules.
