A meeting between the Vietnamese Embassy in Sweden and Vingroup has outlined plans to bring electric taxi services to Sweden and the wider Nordic region, the Vietnam Embassy in Sweden reports.
Vingroup is one of Vietnam’s largest private business groups, active in sectors such as real estate, industry, technology, healthcare and transport. In recent years, the company has expanded strongly into electric mobility through its automotive brand VinFast and related services.
The focus of the talks is a rollout of GSM electric taxis as part of a broader push into green mobility and sustainable transport.
Both sides also discussed a possible launch event in August 2026, linked to Vietnam’s National Day, with participation from authorities, diplomatic missions and business groups.
The embassy said it will help connect the company with relevant partners in Sweden, including business and institutional actors.
The initiative builds on the upgraded Vietnam-Sweden Strategic Partnership in science, technology and digital transformation from 2025.
If realised, the project would mark a notable Vietnamese entry into the Nordic transport market, with expansion planned across several European countries from 2026.
