Norwegian Training Center Appoints New MD

The Norwegian Training Center of Manila in Philipines has appointed a new managing director, Erik Freberg Blom, according to the news site Manila Bulletin.

Mr. Blom comes from the position of safety and quality manager with the Norwegian company, Grieg Shipping, where he has been employed since 2007.

He has a wide and extensive background from the Norwegian maritime industry, both as commander with the Royal Norwegian Navy-Coastguard and as captain with Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, in addition to various shore-based positions in Wilson EuroCarriers and as state maritime pilot. Mr. Blom is a graduate of the Norwegian Naval Academy.

With Mr. Blom at the helm of NTC, the NTC is confident that it has a solid and competent managing director in place, capable of contributing to the strengthening and development of its member services and presence in the Philippines, writes the news site Manila Bulletin.

“We are on the threshold of exciting times and a bold and ambitious new development with our NTCM2015-project,” said NTC chairman, Tore Forsmo.

“In this context, being able to continue delivering quality training while at the same time developing tomorrows training center and competence base,” said Mr. Forsmo.

Erik Freberg Blom will play a key role in both these two dimensions, added Forsmo. He will begin his new position on 1 July 2012.
