According to the Norwegian Embassy in Indonesia, the conversations covered subjects like the growing economic cooperation, climate and the environment, the human rights dialogue and the health-related Millennium Development Goals. In addition, the two colleagues exchanged views on various regional and multilateral issues including the political situation in Myanmar and Syria. Both ministers expressed their gratitude for the strengthening of relations over the last years and their commitment to develop this cooperation further, writes the Embassy.
Mr. Natalegawa met with several Norwegian politicians and representatives from civil society during his visit to Norway. He had audience with His Majesty the King at the Royal Palace in Oslo and was welcomed by Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg at his office. A first-time meeting with newly appointed Minister of the Environment Bård Vegar Solhjell provided an opportunity to discuss the prosperous cooperation within the forest sector.
Norway’s leading energy company, Statoil gave the Minister more insight into the potential of oil- and gas-exploration in Indonesia including the company’s future plans in South-East Asia. The economic developments and the conditions for doing business in Indonesia have greatly improved and the opening of Innovation Norway’s trade office in Jakarta in August highlights the growing Indonesian-Norwegian business cooperation. As an example of this, the Indonesian delegation also met with representatives from Norwegian company Q-free and their Indonesian partners PT RIN to learn about their agreement to deliver an efficient system (Electronic Law Enforcement) for registration and control of registered vehicles in Jakarta.
Before leaving Oslo Minister Støre invited Minister Natalegawa to the Fram Museum to share with him stories of the greatest Norwegian polar expeditions and the Norwegian government’s view on the High North.
