Members of Danish Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong attended an exclusive event on Tuesday June 5th with Jebsen & Co., Ltd, one of the longest established Danish companies in Hong Kong and Greater China. The event turned out to be very successful due to seats was fully booked.
The event took place in the Jebsen & Co., Ltd. Group Headquarters in Causeway Bay by Mr. Hans Michael Jebsen, Chairman of the Group.
It all started in 1895 when the two cousins Jacob Jebsen and Heinrich Jessen sailed from Aabenraa to Hong Kong and co-founded Jebsen & Co., Ltd. as a shipping agency that quickly developed into a trading company. They started to trade indigo dye and since then have imported and traded other products such as Blue Girl beer and Porsche cars.
Hans Michael Jebsen, now the 4th generation at the head of this family company, explained that one of the keys to success was probably that the two cousins had good eyes to choose the right local partners.
“Besides, the company is still a family company where many employees have worked over 30 or 40 years sometimes over two or three generations,” said Hans Michael Jebsen.

Lately, they have started a business in traditional Chinese Herbal medicine (Nutrigreen)
“Which shows that we can always start new businesses,” added Hans Michael Jebsen with a smile.
After the presentation, participants were offered a glass of wine – another trading business of the Jebsen Group.
