Swedish-Thai tried to rob gold shop

After three days of suspicious hanging out in Suwannakorn gold shop in Central Pattaya, “Eddie” Anuchat Bupasiri, 35, a Thai brought up and living in Sweden, first tried to pay with fake money, and then grabbed two gold necklaces worth 122,000 bath and tried to escape.

The owner of Suwannakorn gold shop Atchara Hongsawong tells that Bupasari had been hanging out in the shop for hours the past three days. On the third day just before closing time he made his attempt to rob the gold. His escape was tackled by a motorcycle taxi driver and detained for the police. Bupasiri has confessed the theft. He wanted to use the gold to pay for a wedding dowry for his Thai girlfriend.

Police believe the Swedish-Thai man has been living in the kingdom for a while and are investigating if he committed similar crimes elsewhere.
