East meets West – Vietnamese and Danish musicians in joint project

Six Vietnamese musicians from the Vietnam National Academy of Music in Hanoi will joint with the Danish Hafnia Chamber Orchestra to play two concerts in Denmark.

Among the Vietnamese musicians is Bùi Công Duy, who has won several prices and competitions such as the Golden medal of Tchaikovski international music contest in Saint Petersburg and The Novosibirsk International Competition.

The Hafnia Chamber Orchestra will be reinforced with two world famous Danish musicians, recorder player Michala Petri and Vietnamese-Danish bass player Chris Minh Doky.

Michala Petri had her debut as a soloist in 1969 only 11 years old. Among the many prices she has received, the most prestigious is the Sonning Music Prize, which she received in 2000 as only the third Dane to receive the price.

Chris Minh Doky has worked in many genres. Most notably is his collaboration with famous American jazz musicians as Mike Stern, Michael Brecker and David Sandborn.

This rare opportunity to see collaboration between Vietnamese and Danish musicians takes place at Gjoslev Castle August  21 and Skt. Paul Church August 22. Admission is free.
