Swedish Business Community meets with Indonesia Investment Authority

On August 13, 2012, Swedish Ambassador H.E. Ewa Polano met with the new chairman of BKPM, Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board, Dr. Chatib Basri, together with a wide range of representatives of Sweden’s business presence in Indonesia.

The meeting focused on how Indonesia and Sweden can cooperate more, as well as on how to overcome specific trade and investment hurdles in Indonesia. In 2011, Sweden’s exports to Indonesia grew by 35 %, while Indonesian exports to Sweden grew by 28 %.

Dr. Basri was very optimistic about the future of Swedish-Indonesian cooperation, and noted the substantive plans of several companies. “I’ve been waiting for this for ages”, he commented one company’s plan to open stores in Jakarta. Ambassador Polano concluded the meeting by summarizing the Swedish business community’s message: “We believe in Indonesia”
