Fashion show at opening of new Ecco store

Danish shoe brand Ecco went all the way, when they celebrated the opening of their fourth store in Bangkok, located on the third floor at Central World.

Ecco had succeeded in getting Thai celebrities, The Fashion press and representatives from the Danish embassy to attend the opening, which included a fashion show presenting Ecco’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection.

Ms. Loh Seow Yuen, General Manager, South East Asia/Pacific, gave an opening speech, in which the story of Ecco in Thailand was recounted, as well as the story of how Ecco was started by Mr. Karl Toosbuy in 1963. The foundation of the company was the personal dream of Mr. Toosby – a dream of having his own shoe factory and running his own business, and that he wanted to make shoes that truly fit the foot. The functional and comfortable Ecco shoes were launched in the 1970s and still today the Ecco shoes are a success story and an icon within the shoe industry.  Since its foundation the company has grown rapidly and now operates in over 50 countries worldwide with more than 20,000 employees.

The opening speech was followed by an address by Mr. Mads Beyer, Deputy Head of Mission, Royal Danish Embassy. Mr. Beyer began his speech with a short presentation of Thai-Danish diplomatic relations which had their 150 years anniversary in 2008, and of the trade relations which began even before formal diplomatic relations.

Mr. Beyer also touched upon Ecco’s flood experience and, on behalf of the Royal Danish Embassy, he proudly commended the fact that even during the tremendous flooding disaster, which struck the company’s facilities in Ayutthaya last year, Ecco still did not forget to care for their staff who is the most valuable asset for the company. In an exemplary way, Ecco has shown responsibility to both their staff and the community.
