Successful Sweden Day at Chulalongkorn University

Over 300 students from Sasin and Chulalongkorn University on June 27th gathered at Sasin Hall to participate in the student business day, named Sweden Day.
The event was arranged by Project Thailand, a Swedish student project consisting of eleven students from two of Sweden’s most prominent schools; Stockholm School of Economics and The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. The Swedish participants in the project had been working since October 2001 learning about Thailand and spent more than three weeks in Thailand interviewing employers, employees, students and many more to get to know the business climate in Thailand.
At the event. about 200 students filled out Project Thailand’s questionnaire, creating the basis for a study concerning Thai students’ interest in foreign business and career opportunities – among others in Sweden.
H.E Dr. Kantathi Suphamongkhon, Thailand Trade Representative to Sweden, and Mr. Bengt Carlsson, Economic and Commercial Counsellor from the Swedish Embassy, inaugurated the evening while Dr. Narongchai Akrasanee, former Minister of Commerce Thailand, talked about his experiences from Sweden and shared some of his knowledge on the relevant issues for the future of Thailand with the audience.
The Swedish finger food finished early when the students mingled among the participants from the seven Swedish companies who had sponsored the event, Electrolux, Ericsson, Gammon Skanska, SAS, Tetra Pak and Volvo.
Due to the prosperous first Sweden Day in Bangkok, Project Thailand together with the Student Association of the Stockholm School of Economics and the participating companies will investigate the possibility of making Sweden Day an annual event.
