H.M. Queen Silvia of Sweden arrived Thailand yesterday Wednesday 7 April 2010 for a personal visit with an aim to spend some time at a Scout- and Childhoodproject in the Eastern Seaboard south of the capital Bangkok.
The visit is scheduled on H.M Queen Silvia’s calendar page on the royal website http://www.royalcourt.se/ but with little information about the project, she is assisting. Her Majesty is schduled to return on Sunday.
The Royal Thai Government has passed an emergency decree giving the army special powers in controlling ongoing political riots in Bangkok, but the Eastern Seaboard is not affected by this decree, and currently the demonstrators known as the red shirts are only disrupting normal life in Bangkok.
