Norwegian Emerson Changes Management in Asia

Emerson Process Management, Stavanger, Norway, has reported it has made two senior announcements within its Roxar Software Solutions (RSS) division – Morten Tønnesen is to become vice president, business development and Khong Kheng Ting is to become regional manager, Asia Pacific, replacing Morten in his previous role.


The announcements will see Morten return to Norway from Asia where he will play a key role in increasing the customer base for Roxar Software Solutions worldwide, focusing on new emerging markets, and building up the structures and capabilities to enable Emerson to provide an ever broader and integrated range of reservoir management solutions. In his new role as regional manager, Asia Pacific, based in Kuala Lumpur, Khong will be tasked with building on the recent growth in software sales in the region which saw a 50% increase in 2010 and continuing to strengthen relationships with key Asia Pacific customers.


“I am delighted to be announcing such high caliber appointments today,” said Ordin Husa, managing director of Emerson’s Roxar Software Solutions. “Khong’s success as service manager in the region, his excellent leadership and managerial skills, and the strong client relationships he has developed in countries such as Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, make him ideally qualified to build on our Asia Pacific successes and help regional operators generate maximum returns from their reservoir assets.”


He continues, “We also look forward to Morten replicating his Asia Pacific successes on a global basis as we continue to focus our solutions on the key messages of functionality, collaboration, integration and usability.”


Emerson’s Roxar software solutions are being used by over 80 operators throughout the Asia Pacific, including key National Oil Companies (NOCs), such as  PTTEP in Thailand, PETRONAS in Malaysia, Pertamina in Indonesia, PetroVietnam in Vietnam, and PetroChina, SinoPec and CNOOC in China, and International Operating Companies (IOCs), such as BP, ConocoPhillips and Exxon.

2010 saw a 50% increase in software sales and a 10% increase in revenues in the Asia Pacific region. Roxar RSS, as a division of Emerson Process Management with over 7000 staff in the Asia Pacific, have sales, support offices and training centers in Kuala Lumpur, Perth, Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh City and Beijing and will further expand its local presence in Thailand and India in the near future.
