Denmark Appoint Export Ambassador to China

Sunday 29th May the Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen appointed former EU Commissioner Ritt Bjerregaard as export ambassador to China. Bjerregaard has also previously served as minister for the Social Democratic Party and Lord Mayor of Copenhagen.


Ritt Bjerregaard’s tasks will be to identify new bilateral export opportunities in China for Danish businesses and lead Danish export delegations to China. She will also work with Invest in Denmark to attract Chinese business to Denmark.


“Ritt Bjerregaard is an extremely experienced and international politician. This is particularly true with regard to her experience as EU commissioner, but also in relation to her work as Mayor, which strengthened Copenhagen’s international commitment,” Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen says according to Berlingske.


Ritt Bjerregaard will serve as one of five new export ambassadors to the BRIC Countries and other promising economies. Sunday the Prime Minister also appointed former EU Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel and the former Minister for Finance Henning Dyremose. The remaining two export ambassadors will be appointed within the next two weeks.
