Ambassador Järviaho paid courtesy call to Thai PM Gen. Prayut

 

On 18 March 2021 the Finnish Ambassador Jyri Järviaho was honored to pay a courtesy call to Prime Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha at the Government House today. Both parties reiterated their commitment to strengthen the already solid bilateral relations between the countries through cooperation in many fields. For example, Finland’s offering in the circular economy can help Thailand to advance its Bio-Circular-Green Economic Model (BCG), and Finland’s strengths in the education sector can help Thailand to enhance its human capital. There is also much potential for cooperation in the fields of vocational training, lifelong learning, digitalization, startup ecosystems and labor mobility.

During the meeting, Ambassador Järviaho congratulated Thailand for the good handling of the Covid-19 situation and highlighted the importance of a sustainable economic recovery after the pandemic. He reiterated Finland’s support for the EU-Thailand Free Trade Agreement and the relevance of free trade for Finnish companies. Topical human rights issues and regional issues, such as the situation in Myanmar, were also covered in the meeting.
