Ambassador Järviaho visited Tonkla school in Chiangmai

On 16 March 2021 the Finnish Ambassador Jyri Järviaho and other representatives of the Embassy were thrilled to visit Tonkla School in Chiang Mai.

Tonkla is a privately owned bilingual (Thai/English) school that has adopted a true Finnish approach to learning: happy kids learn best. Playing and learning go hand in hand.

The kids welcomed the Finnish visitors with warmth and enthusiasm and presented some of their projects. One of the highlights of the visit was when the Ambassador read a Moomin book to a group of kids. During the day the kids were even served some traditional Finnish pyttipannu and munkkis for lunch!

In connection with the visit, Tonkla also held a virtual signing ceremony with HEI Schools on the implementation of the HEI School Teacher Toolkit. Tonkla has already worked with many other Finnish education experts in the past, including Positive Learning. The new partnership with HEI Schools will provide Tonkla’s teachers with new tools to adopt Finnish methods in the classroom and beyond.
