Indonesia and Norway held the 1st Indonesia–Norway Ocean Dialogue in Oslo on 22–23 October 2025, building on their June 2025 Joint Declaration on a Partnership for a Prosperous and Sustainable Future. The forum outlined cooperation in the blue economy, marine technology, low-emission energy, and sustainable marine tourism.
Deputy Foreign Minister Arif Havas Oegroseno invited Norway to take part in the Ocean Impact Summit 2026 in Bali. On the sidelines, he met Deputy Foreign Minister Eivind Vad Petersson and Deputy Minister for Climate and Environment Astrid Willa Eide Hoem to advance work on green shipping, carbon markets, climate finance and global ocean diplomacy.
The delegation also joined a roundtable on carbon-pricing methods and forest carbon sequestration, bringing together Indonesian and Norwegian institutions including Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Norway’s Ministry of Climate and Environment, NORAD, Rainforest Foundation Norway, SSB, CICERO and the University of Oslo.
Officials said the inaugural dialogue strengthens collaboration on a credible, high-integrity carbon market mechanism and supports shared goals to make the ocean a driver of sustainable and inclusive growth.
