Direct flights from Kuala Lumpur and Stockholm will open up opportunities to enhance trade and tourism between the two countries as well as improve training and talent development of Malaysians working for Swedish companies in Malaysia.
Swedish Trade & Invest Council market unit manager for Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines Carl Malmqvist said to make this possible, Malaysia must have direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Stockholm.
“Some 40,000 Swedish tourists arrive in Malaysia every year and in contrast 450,000 tourists head for Thailand every year as there are direct flights from Sweden to Thailand.
“This shows that without direct flights, Swedish tourist arrival in Malaysia is definitely affected,” he said, adding that tourists to Malaysia had to transit in Bangkok or Singapore.
