The seventh China–Nordic Economic and Trade Forum will take place from 14 to 16 October in Wuhan, Hubei Province, bringing together more than 30 countries and regions alongside over 200 Fortune Global 500 companies.

Since its launch in 2018, the forum has become a key platform for strengthening economic ties between China and the five Nordic countries. According to China’s Ministry of Commerce, trade between China and the Nordic region reached nearly 38 billion USD from January to August this year, marking a 7 percent year-on-year increase – more than twice the pace of overall China-EU trade. Pharmaceuticals and precision machinery remain the leading Nordic exports.

Nordic companies such as Novo Nordisk and Yara continue to expand their operations in China, while Chinese electric vehicle and battery manufacturers are investing in Sweden, Finland and Norway. This year’s forum will place particular emphasis on cooperation in green energy, the digital economy and advanced manufacturing.

A new Nordic route for the China–Europe Railway Express will also be launched during the event, strengthening Hubei’s role as a hub for China–Europe connectivity and opening further opportunities for trade with Northern Europe.
