Norwegian telecom group Telenor has celebrated its 25th anniversary in Thailand, underlining its long-term commitment to the country’s digital transformation and partnership with CP Group through True Corporation.
At the anniversary event in Bangkok, Telenor Chair Jens Petter Olsen, Group CEO Benedicte Schilbred Fasmer, and Asia CEO Jon Omund Revhaug highlighted the company’s contributions to Thailand’s connectivity since 2000, when Telenor first invested in TAC and later developed the dtac brand into one of the country’s leading operators.
The 2023 merger of True and dtac, jointly owned by Telenor and CP Group, has already delivered results, returning True Corporation to profitability and earning “Deal of the Year” recognition from the Stock Exchange of Thailand. Telenor executives stressed that the company’s role goes beyond capital investment, with Nordic expertise in AI, cloud solutions, and cybersecurity being introduced to the Thai market.
Telenor also pointed to Thailand’s strong digital infrastructure, high mobile internet adoption, and government ambitions to develop AI talent, saying these strengths position the country for regional leadership. The group reaffirmed plans to support growth in areas such as cybersecurity, enterprise solutions, and digital health, while emphasizing the need for balanced regulation to sustain competitiveness.
With 2025 marking both Telenor’s 25 years in Thailand and 120 years of diplomatic ties between Thailand and Norway, the company described its presence as a bridge between the two countries, combining business investment with innovation, culture, and opportunities for Thai society.
