Communist Party of China delegation ends three-day visit to Norway

A senior delegation from China has concluded a three-day visit to Norway, reinforcing political ties and exploring new areas of bilateral cooperation.

Led by Liu Jianchao, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the delegation held talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide during the visit, which also included participation in the Oslo Forum 2025.

According to Xinhua News Agency, both sides reaffirmed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations in line with agreements previously made by the two countries’ leaders. Areas identified for deeper cooperation include the economy and trade, maritime affairs, green transition, and people-to-people exchanges.

The meetings also highlighted the value of enhanced interparty dialogue, with both the Chinese Communist Party and Norway’s Labour Party expressing support for greater political engagement to foster mutual understanding and trust.

The visit concluded on Thursday 12 June. During his stay in Oslo, Liu also spoke at the China Session of the Oslo Forum, presenting China’s current domestic and foreign policy priorities and engaging in discussions with international representatives.
