Sweden has highlighted the potential for closer cooperation with ASEAN, particularly on green transition, climate action and sustainable development, according to a Facebook post from the Vietnamese Embassy in Stockholm.
The remarks were made by Daniel Westlén, State Secretary to Sweden’s Minister for Climate and the Environment, during an ASEAN Day celebration in Stockholm on 28 September.
The event was organised by the ASEAN Committee in Stockholm and hosted by Malaysia, which currently chairs the committee. The gathering marked the 59th anniversary of ASEAN.
Westlén, who attended as guest of honour on behalf of the Swedish Government, pointed to the growing relationship between Sweden and ASEAN and opportunities to expand cooperation in areas of shared interest.
Representatives from ASEAN member states attended the event, including Counsellor Dan Anh Tuan from the Vietnamese Embassy in Sweden.
The celebration also featured cultural and culinary presentations from ASEAN countries.
