Danish artist rocked the crowd at Monsoon Music Festival in Hanoi

Mariyah performed at Monsoon Music Festival 2019.

Mariyah LeBerg, award winning Danish/Lebanese singer with roots in punk, world and rap, performed at Monsoon Music Festival on Friday 1st November 2019 in Hanoi in the rain for her Asian fans.

Festival-goers were not dissuaded by the rain that fell in Hanoi on Friday evening, as they lingered to the last minute to enjoy the feast of music genres, with rock music being the highlight. At the end of the show, Mariyah told her fans in Vietnamese language that it was her birthday and they sang happy birthday song for her. 

Mariyah​ is an experienced Danish/Lebanese singer and performer based in Denmark. During her musical career, she has toured several countries such as France, Germany, Sweden, The Netherlands and the USA. In 2014, Mariyah won a Danish Music Award for ‘Best Live Act’ and is widely known for her live performances.

In 2017 the singer toured in China twice, with the most recent tour consisting of 24 shows in 28 days covering 10.000 km by bus.  Toward the end of 2017, Mariyah​ signed a 3 year management contract with REN Production ​with the goal of making her an international profile ​in mainly ​Asia ​​and China in particular.

On the festival’s second night on Saturday evening, featured performers were Thai singer-songwriter Phum Viphurit, Vietnam’s Lu.Tre.Chau and Xinh Xo, Indonesian band Lightcraft, and Israeli singer-songwriter and producer Totemo.

On Sunday, the festival featured performances by South Korean boy band Hyukoh, American musician and composer Robert Rich, and Vietnamese singers Vinh Khuat and Tien Tien.

The MMF took place on the vast grounds of the Imperial Citadel on Hoàng Diệu Street, with a capacity of up to 10,000 people. Since 2013, the festival has become a cultural “phenomenon” in Hanoi. Every season, the event presents a line-up of international singers and bands from around the world. Grammy-winning soul singer Joss Stone, the best-selling string quartet Bond, and the world-famous rock band Scorpions are among the artists to have performed at MMF. The festival won the “Vietnamese Grammy” Devotion Award for Music Show/Festival of the Year in 2015.
