The Danish Seamen’s Church in Singapore will be welcoming an interim pastor couple for a three-month period in autumn 2025, ahead of the appointment of a new permanent pastor.

The Danish Church Abroad has appointed pastor Pia Sundbøll and her husband, lecturer Villi Batzlaff, to serve the congregation during this transition.

Pia Sundbøll has had a long career in various pastoral roles, including 16 years as a hospital chaplain, several years as a pastor abroad in Luxembourg, and most recently as Secretary-General of the Danish Seamen’s and Overseas Churches.

Her husband Villi Batzlaff, who holds a master’s degree in Danish and history, has worked as a teacher in many different settings. He was previously a lecturer in Danish at the European School in Luxembourg and is also a keen electric guitar player.

The couple has lived in several countries, including England, Germany, and Luxembourg, giving them extensive experience with expatriate life.

They will serve the Danish Seamen’s Church in Singapore until a new permanent pastor is appointed.
