Patrick Johansson will lead Ericsson’s new Asia-Pacific market area from 1 January 2027, bringing the Swedish telecom company’s Southeast Asian operations into a wider regional organisation.

Ericsson announced the appointment on 15 October as part of changes to its operating structure and executive team. Johansson currently heads the company’s operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and will remain a member of its executive team.

The new Asia-Pacific market area will combine two existing divisions: North East Asia and South East Asia, Oceania and India.

Southeast Asia joins wider region

For Ericsson’s Southeast Asian business, the change means joining the same regional organisation as its Northeast Asian operations.

Ericsson says the merger is intended to improve efficiency while maintaining close relationships with customers in individual countries. Chief executive Per Narvinger highlighted Johansson’s extensive experience in Asia-Pacific.

Chafic Nassif, who heads North East Asia, and Andres Vicente, who leads South East Asia, Oceania and India, will support the transition before handing over their responsibilities on 31 December 2026.
