Finland participated at CIIE2 expo in Shanghai

Nina Kopola, the Director General of Business Finland gave an opening speech at the China International Import Expo in Shanghai from 5th – 10th November 2019.

Business Finland provides companies with internationalization and financial services, participated a pavilion showcases Finland’s clean energy, food, winter lifestyle and tourism. The expo provided opportunities for Finnish companies looking to increase market share and cooperation with Chinese counterparts, at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre.

Finland and China share an interest in green/clean technology and winter sports, Nina Kopola said.

“Winter lifestyle and skills are in the DNA of Finland.” she said.

When the Chinese and Finnish presidents met in 2017, it was designated that 2019 would be the China-Finland Year of Winter Sports. Many meetings, seminars and cultural events have been held in both countries over the years.

As the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics approaches, the winter sports market is expected to develop greatly in China, which signals a potential growth area for Finland.

“It’s a very broad cooperation,” said Ms. Kopola. “It’s not only about selling things to China, but also coaching, teaching and bringing technology here.”

China is Finland’s fourth-largest trade partner in the world and the largest in Asia.
