Finland’s elevator company Kone wins Shanghai order

Finnish elevator and escalator company Kone has won an order for 108 elevators and 57 escalators at Dazhongli, a mixed-use development on Shanghai’s flourishing commercial street, West Nanjing Road, the company announced in a press release.

Covering a land area of 63,000 square meters, Dazhongli will comprise two office buildings, a shopping mall and three luxury hotels, with a gross floor area of 323,000 square meters.

“We are excited to deliver our People Flow solutions to this major project in the heart of Shanghai’s commercial and cultural hub,”  said William B. Johnson, Executive Vice President for Kone in Greater China.

“The smooth flow of people will be of great importance at this busy new site, and our solutions will enable it to be as eco-efficient as possible,” he added.

Located close to an existing and two planned metro lines, Dazhongli is expected to become a landmark business, leisure and entertainment venue in China’s most populous city.

The project is expected to be completed in phases from 2016 onwards. The investors and developers are HKR International Limited and Swire Properties Limited, each with a 50-per cent stake.

The consultants for the project are WOY (architect), AECOM (structural consultant), and PBA (electrical consultant). The main contractor is Shanghai Construction Group.

  1. Is anybody surprised ? Kone has the most reliable elevators and have had in for ages.The licensed welders in the beginning where the best in the world and the reputation of their skills combined with the technology if Finns,they were always as step before others. Next time you make a ride in an elevator and most surely it is a Kone you will be safe and getting soon up or down!
