Thailand and Sweden are looking to deepen industrial cooperation in clean energy, aviation and digital technology, following talks between the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and Sweden’s ambassador to Thailand, according to the FTI.
FTI President Pimpirai Leesissranukul met Anna Hammargren the Swedish Ambassador in Bangkok on 22 September to discuss opportunities for cooperation in future industries.
More than 120 Swedish companies currently operate in Thailand, according to the FTI, including businesses in electronics, electrical equipment and the automotive sector.
The Swedish side presented the concept of “Made with Sweden”, which aims to encourage Swedish companies and Thai businesses to develop products, services and innovations together. The initiative could also support technology transfer and the development of Thai small and medium-sized enterprises.
Both sides identified clean energy, aviation and digital technology as areas with potential for further cooperation. The discussions also covered Thailand’s efforts to increase industrial competitiveness through artificial intelligence, automation, digital technology and sustainable production.
The FTI and Swedish side also discussed the importance of advancing the Thailand–EU Free Trade Agreement, which could create additional opportunities for trade and investment between Thailand and Sweden. Sweden expressed support for Thailand’s efforts to join the OECD through the exchange of expertise and best practices.
