Greenland picks Denmark over China to upgrade airports

Greenland has chosen to partner with Denmark instead of China when upgrading two airports on the island.

Greenland chose on 10 September to partner with Denmark in an upcoming upgrade of two national airports, according to metalsnews.com.

China had also shown interest in the project, but the Danish government had expressed strong concerns about choosing China since it could have a lasting impact on a key American military base located there.

Denmark will provide credit worth 450 million Danish crowns for the airport projects and provide state guarantee for another 450 million Danish crowns loan from the Nordic Investment Bank.
