Happy Norwegian Constitutional Day!

Today marks the annual Norwegian Consitutional Day – the day marking Norway’s independence from Denmark after the Napoleon Wars in 1814.

So all around the world, Norwegian expats, tourists or simply people fleeing the cold winters and high prices on alcohol are gathering in blue and red to celebrate their independence.

Every Norwegian embassy and chamber of commerce in Southeast Asia is marking this day, usually with a traditional lunch and parades and perhaps also Norwegian beverages. In Myanmar every Norwegian employee of the Nordic House marched up to the building with Norwegian flags while being greeted by their Burmese colleagues.

So from all of us at ScandAsia, happy Consitutional Day to all out Norwegian readers!
