Indonesia wants Denmark and Norway to develop Malacca Strait

Indonesia’s Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, has encouraged firms from Denmark and Norway to join forces in building a sustainable marine infrastructure in Indonesia.

On 28 November, Budi Karya Sumadi has issued a financing team focusing on investments in the transportation sector.

“Denmark and Norway are home to the world’s leading shipping companies. Therefore, we encourage them to develop the Malacca Strait and invest in marine navigation,” said Budi Karya Sumadi.

An event was held by the Marine and Fisheries Ministry in association with the Transportation Ministry and Danish and Norwegian Embassies. Norwegian Ambassador to Indonesia, Stig Traavik, and Danish Ambassador to Indonesia, Casper Klynge, was present at the event where an agreement was signed, regarding the tackling of illegal fishing in Indonesia.
