Danish shipping giant Maersk has obtained a two-year extension from China’s Ministry of Transport to continue its domestic cargo transshipment operations between Chinese ports. This program, initiated in 2020, allows Maersk to transfer cargo between the Yangshan Port in Shanghai and select northern Chinese ports, enhancing the efficiency of container flows within the country.

The extension reflects China’s ongoing efforts to optimize its domestic logistics and support international shipping companies in streamlining their operations. By facilitating such transshipments, Maersk can better manage its shipping schedules and improve service reliability for customers in the region.

This development underscores the strengthening maritime collaboration between China and international shipping lines, aiming to bolster trade efficiency and economic connectivity.
