Norway will join the US-led Pax Silica initiative, a strategic alliance aimed at securing AI supply chains and reducing dependence on China.

According to Reuters, Norway will officially sign the agreement today.

The initiative is part of US President Donald Trump’s strategy to strengthen cooperation with allies on artificial intelligence technology and critical minerals.

Access to advanced technology

Norwegian Trade and Industry Minister Cecilie Myrseth said the partnership could give Norwegian companies better access to advanced technology value chains.

The US has also highlighted Norway’s sovereign wealth fund and mineral resources as important assets in the cooperation.
