A Norwegian woman and a Thai man have been arrested in a drug raid at a luxury villa in Phuket. The villa is in the Laem Panwa area of Wichit on Sakdidet Road, local police said.
Wichit Police raided the property around 9:30pm on 7 December after reports of drug dealing from the villa. Officers arrested a 54-year-old Norwegian woman and a 37-year-old Thai man.
Police reported seizing more than 30 grammes of heroin, a smaller amount of crystal meth and 44 methamphetamine pills. They also confiscated a digital scale, drug-taking equipment and 100,000 baht in cash from inside the villa.
Both suspects tested positive for heroin and methamphetamine, according to police. They now face multiple charges, including joint possession of Category 1 narcotics for sale and illegal drug use. The Norwegian woman has also been charged with overstaying her permitted stay in Thailand.
Police say the arrests are part of a wider crackdown on drugs in the Wichit area. Investigators are checking who owns or rented the villa and whether other suspects are involved, before forwarding the case to prosecutors.
