A group of eight parliamentarians from seven European countries arrived in Taiwan on 1 February for a six-day visit, Taiwan’s Central News Agency reported.
The delegation includes lawmakers from Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Poland, Sweden and Ukraine. It is led by Žygimantas Pavilionis, deputy chair of the Lithuanian Seimas foreign affairs committee.
During the visit, the group is scheduled to meet Hsiao Bi-khim, Lin Chia-lung and Deputy Legislative Speaker Johnny Chiang, among other officials.
Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Taiwan) said the trip aims to exchange views on democratic resilience and “democratic supply chains” between Taiwan and Europe. The group is also expected to visit a defence ministry-funded think tank, a digital diplomacy NGO, and Kinmen.
