Patong police investigate rape report by Swedish tourist

Patong Police are investigating a Swedish tourist’s report that she was sexually assaulted by a Swedish man in a Phuket hotel room.

Police in Patong, Phuket, Thailand are investigating an alleged sexual assault report by a 26-year-old tourist from Sweden, local media reports.

Police said the woman filed a complaint around 6pm on 1 February. She told officers she met a Swedish man near a convenience store at about 5am on 31 January.

After talking, they went to his hotel room, where she says she was assaulted. Police said she tried to escape but was threatened before fleeing back.

Investigators said they are reviewing CCTV and contacting nearby hotels to identify and locate the suspect. Police said the case was recorded and remains under investigation.
