Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has expressed hopes for stronger relations between the Philippines and Norway following the arrival of Norway’s new ambassador, Kristian Netland.
Marcos received Netland’s credentials during a ceremony at Malacañang Palace on September 8, alongside the credentials of South Korea’s new ambassador, Lee Dong-gy.
The Philippine president said he looked forward to working with the two new envoys to further strengthen Manila’s relations with their respective countries.
For Norway, the appointment comes as the Philippines continues to develop closer economic and diplomatic ties with Nordic countries and other partners in Europe.
The meeting also highlights Norway’s diplomatic engagement in Southeast Asia, where cooperation with the Philippines includes areas such as trade, maritime affairs, energy and sustainability.
