Popular Finnish band Boston Promenade back to perform in Bangkok

Here is an event for music lovers. On Friday 14 June at 8pm, the popular jazz and party band from Finland “Boston Promenade” will return to Bangkok to perform during a charity concert “A Night at The Copacabana with Boston Promenade” at the River City shopping centre’s Grand Hall on Charoen Krung Soi 24.

The concert is organised by VR1 Media Group with the aim to raise funds for the construction of a school building under the Phra Dabos Foundation for Southern Thailand. It will see the big band also performing some of the King’s compositions including HM Blues and Magic Beams.

Founded by the Student Union of the Helsinki School of Economics in 1964, Boston Promenade consists of 26 musicians between 25 and 35 years old. The group has evolved into a popular party band at larger company functions in Finland and they perform regularly on Finnish national television.

Boston Promenade’s musical repertoire is very broad. They start off with entertaining jazz and as the evening develops, so does the music. They often play hits from the 1970s by Tom Jones, Stevie Wonder and the likes, and move to the pop and rock music of today by Robbie Williams and Brian Setzer, for instance.

For the upcoming show, they will be joined by three Thai artists: Pongsak “Aof” Rattanapong, Radklao Amaradit and Tanasit Jaturaput (aka Ton-AF8).

Tickets: 1,000 baht per ticket from VR1 Media Group’s office. Call 02-641-5234 ext. 317.
