The Myanmar Red Cross Society has officially launched a free mobile clinic in the Sagaing Region. This initiative aims to provide essential medical care to temporarily displaced individuals and local residents who cannot afford hospital visits.

This project directly addresses urgent healthcare needs within the community. Supported by the Norwegian Red Cross and the Danish Red Cross, the mobile clinic will cater to 1,511 displaced individuals. The aim is to deliver vital primary health care services to underserved populations.

Ko Nyein Chan Oo: A committed volunteer

“When there are difficulties, it’s incredibly convenient that they open a mobile clinic,” said Ko Nyein Chan Oo, a dedicated volunteer at the clinic. He expressed his happiness about being able to help people in his community and underscored the importance of such services.

Ko Nyein Chan Oo has committed 32 years to charity work and is a long-standing member of the Red Cross. In 2002, he received the Outstanding Red Cross Award for his dedication. He stated, “Since I became a Red Cross member, I have saved money from my own pocket to buy medical supplies. This includes methylated spirit, bandages, and wound dressing medications to care for anyone injured. I feel delighted to provide that support.”

At the mobile clinic, Ko Nyein Chan Oo plays a crucial role. He takes patient records, measures blood pressure, conducts diabetes screenings, and checks body temperatures and oxygen saturation levels (SPO2). His contributions significantly enhance the clinic’s overall ability to function efficiently.

As the mobile clinic operates in Sagaing, it aims to alleviate some healthcare burdens faced by individuals impacted by recent conflicts and displacement. Furthermore, the opening of this clinic marks a vital step toward improving health outcomes for vulnerable communities. This effort showcases the Red Cross’s commitment to humanitarian aid in Myanmar.
