Round table discussion between ECCP Davao and EU

European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) Southern Mindanao Business Council held a round-table meeting on the EU investment in Mindanao with H. E. Franz Jessen, Ambassador of EU to Philippines who is originally from Denmark..

Held at Park Inn Radisson Hotel on February 19, 2019, the meeting started with the presentation of the recent activities and achievements of ECCP Davao by Tony Peralta, Chairman of the ECCP Southern Mindanao Business Council.

Then, Ambassador Jessen expressed his views on EU investment and the latest developments in Mindanao.

Mr. Art Milan, President of Davao Chamber, also emphasized the latest opportunities for Davao in the areas of agriculture, tourism, and manufacturing.

Moreover, the European businessmen in Mindanao, Mr. Markus Ableitinger and Mr. Bertel Ingmar commented on the changing perception of European countries toward Mindanao’s credibility.

They said that European countries considered Mindanao as unsafe city because of Martial Law. So, the authorities should promote the island, especially Davao as a safe island in order to gain confidence from the EU investors.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Amor Pendaliday, representative from Bangsamoro Oil and Fuels Corporation, concluded the meeting by highlight “the role of the private sector in the development of the newly established Bangsamoro Region in Mindanao.” ECCP wrote on its website.
