Singapore street food event with a Nordic flavor

Danish food entrepreneur, co-creator of Noma and founding father of the New Nordic Cuisine movement, Claus Meyer, serves up comfort food the Danish way at the first World Street Food Congress Singapore 2013 from May 31 to June 9.

Both Singapore and Copenhagen have gained a strong reputation as gastronomic cities, and now they meet – first in Singapore, and then in August in Copenhagen during the food festival Copenhagen Cooking.

Claus Meyer will be a key note speaker at the World Street Food Congress Singapore 2013. Based on his experience from Noma and the New Nordic cuisine movement, he will share his reflections on food as an instrument to improve lives in mature and emerging economies.

At the public event Jamboree at World Street Food Congress, street food masters from around the world will serve up street food. Claus’ Meyer’s Kitchen will represent Denmark with comfort food, serving the famous “Roast Pork Sandwich”. Come see Claus Meyer in action on June 4, 6.30pm at Danish Stall 1*, F1 Pit Building & Paddock . The Ambassador of Denmark to Singapore, Berit Basse, will address editors and visitors at Danish Stall, followed by Claus Meyer.

Singapore chefs at Copenhagen Cooking

Singapore will also be present at Northern Europe’s biggest food festival Copenhagen Cooking. Claus Meyer, who is also part of the World Street Food Council, will host an event during Copenhagen Cooking where Singaporean chefs cook up street food in the heart of Copenhagen. In addition to this, the chefs will be cooking at Claus Meyer’s Singapore restaurant NamNam in Copenhagen.

The Food festival Copenhagen Cooking takes place for the ninth time this summer from August 23rd to September 1st. The streets and venues of Copenhagen will be filled with gastronomic events ranging from cooking classes, pop-up restaurants, Michelin-dining and street kitchens.

More about Claus Meyer

Claus Meyer has published 14 cookbooks in Denmark and hosted his own television series Meyers Køkken (Meyer’s Kitchen) on national Danish TV.  Claus co-owns the gourmet restaurant Noma, which was awarded Michelin star. Claus also owns businesses ranging from catering, fruit and chocolate supply companies and a cooking school.

In the United States, Claus hosts the public television cooking series, New Scandinavian Cooking with Claus Meyer.
