Sembcorp Marine will design and construct three identical plug-in battery-powered ferries for Norwegian Norled AS. The three ferries will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2020.

“Sembcorp Marine’s project with Norled marks our entry into the ropax ferry design and construction segment. It also demonstrates our ambition to be a leading provider of renewable energy-driven solutions,” said head of specialised shipbuilding Mr. Tan Heng Jack from Sembcorp Marine.

Besides the ferries, Sembcorp Marine will also fabricate two topsides for Danish Ørsted Wind Power. The topsides will be delivered to U.K.’s Hornsea 2 Offshore Wind Farm in the first quarter of 2021.

The two contracts are worth more than S$200 million (about US$145 million).
